I genuinely think that Isayama just simply fooled everyone with this chapter and some crazy things are about to come. This whole chapter was weird for me, it honestly did feel like it was rushed, and yes, it had typical shounen jump vibes to it. But then, in the first few episodes I thought this anime was basic. And Oh boy was I definitely wrong. If I recall correctly Isayama is a fan of Game of Thrones and, just like basically the whole GoT fandom, wasn't satisfied with the ending. I mean, it could happen AoT 'll have a terrible ending and the whole explaining what titans part worries me too, but I'm pretty positive the last 2 chapters are going to just blow everyone's minds.

The explanation in the next chapter is gonna be something along along the lines of when erren saw the future he learned that there was no stopping it but to go along with it so he made a condition that he'd let his friends free because he saw that when they stop him 1- they'll save the Paradis island from the titans 2- they'll save the world so people stop hating pardis people. So the twist in the end will try to make us sympathize with eren just like how we know sympathize with Zeke and didn't feel happy about Levi killing Zeke.

I am very unhappy with how things played out. Aot started childish then got serious and it ended just like anime ends: childish. Anyone predicted the ending to be this simple? I guess as a writer you can help but get influenced by your cultural, social, environmental and religious backgrounds. Aot ended just like Fullmetal. So sad that a mangaka that explored this amazingly complex ideas ended up choosing a simple way to end it. I certainly would have been happier if he ended it as dark as how HXH ended the chimera ants arc. Aot went from a full 10 stars to 9 for me.

I really don't think it has a power of friendship ending or feel to it. It's the preservation of the concept of living and life on Earth, not in a feeling of love and friendship but in a feeling that preservation of life is paramount in comparison to the nihilistic extermination of life. The purpose of life is not to multiply and infect, the purpose of life is to lead a fulfilling day to day experience of what the world has to offer, whether or not that includes reproducing or multiplying is up to each individual person. The main point is that as many people as possible have that choice, because life is truly worth living, no matter how bleak the world may seem at any given time. In the eldian's case, its a preservation of a species, rather than friendship. The titan shifters who appeared to help preserve life did not do it out of friendship.

I didn't like the plot of the last chapters....so every main character of the story somehow did a anti-Eren coalition in less the a day, after all the shit they did to each other basically from chapter 1. I didn't like it but at least I thought that something should go wrong badly, likely most/all of them would die trying to stop a supermega powerful titan... instead not only they accomplish the mission impossible but every character survive! Come on.... Super fanservice!!! I miss the good times in season 3 of the anime when in the epic battle all the scouts were wiped out and Erwin and Armin died....

I think that the tree was a bridge between this reality and a different universe that had powerful creatures and Ymir stumbled upon the tree and a parasite attached itself to her while still having supernatural abilities that could bend reality.

To all of the "power of friendship" critics i really hope you think harder about that statement. Friendship is what is driving erens plan right now. His friendship with armin is what exposed him to the idea of freedom, which has been his goal since day 1. Armin and his dream are extremely critical to this show and his ability to inspire isnt an "asspull" since Zeke was a broken man who had spent ETERNITY in the Paths and was against erens plan. Ofc he would want to stop him. And Armins speech wasnt even 100% effective. Zeke still supports the euthanization plan but he supports armins dream bc it leads to a meaningful life. Ymir was also impacted because armins plan actually parallels what Eren used to convince Ymir to side with him: connect with others and be able to live freely. Armin reminded both zeke and ymir of the value of life and freedom. And I am almost 100% sure Eren knew armin was the only one able to do this. Why else would he let his friensd have their "freedom" to stop him? He wants the rumbling to stop partway for his plan. Thats why we dont see his body at the end of 137. And im also sure we will see eren foresee the veteran titans turning on him.

Anyone who think Eren is dead or is in critical condition has not been reading AoT. How the last chapter ended has happened 4 times in Attack on Titan history. The chapter being 4, 29, 65, and 119. Hajime Isayama always loves to “kill” Eren and end chapters so to trick the readers.

Hajime Isayama has subverted expectations many times, mainly using Shonen red herrings where you think the power of friendship or something like that would work but it doesn't. Amazing example of Hajime Isayama tricking people to think Attack on Titan is doing a Shonen trope: Remember back in S2 Eren was down but he remembered his past, got angry, regenerated his fist and when he went for the big punch reiner knocked him down again. Armin talking Zeke out of the rumbling and after reviving past characters with the power of friendship they defeat a godlike enemy with zero casualties. The Zeke part was inevitable and his story ended perfectly. Chapter 137 is a perfext example of the red herring he has done for the series.

I want a bittersweet ending that is actually of philosophical and symbolical value too. The power of friendship and love? yes, it could be well done maybe, but this chapter by itself didn't do it well at all. So I hope the 2 chapters remaining save this finale. Maybe Eren ends up destroying the world, while living Paradise island intact, and after that transforms all remaining Eldians in the Island into titans and it actually frees the centipede thing -which Ymir has been slaving all these years- into a World full of his kind only and devoid of humanity? Maybe Eren realized humanity is the problem and decided to replace it for a dionisian instinctual conscience which is the mindless titan mindset? "Being a Titan is the freest thing in the world" Eren realizes after watching the World from above in the founding Titan. Being a Titan provides a problematicity-free experience and inmortality, so humans are not subjected to pain and death anymore, which caused the cycle of hate in the first place. And a new era for humanity as Titans, the true destiny of Ymir's people and the reason for Eren's existence, starts in Planet Earth. And this is Prometheus (the centipede) new gift to humanity: A life as gods on Earth. And they lived happily ever after. The end.

Falco could be the next attack titan, basically he might eat Eren and finish him once and for all.. and the key to that is the dream, more like a vision that he had when Isayama introduced him for the first time, and -correct me if I’m wrong- the next attack titan holder could see and dream of his predecessor’s vision, since that he mentioned something about flying with swords and slaying Titans and screaming, etc.. and this was basically Eren’s doing.. This anime is inspired so much from Naruto . Even the relation between Eren and mikasa , drive me to think at Sasuke and Sakura . The difference is , in Naruto they end up togheter . The end of this anime is so bad , which make me think that the marker of this manga , is either crazy , either stupid and depressed ... No one should start Something and end it in a bad way :/

While the idea of Eren actually being able to successfully go through with his plan is definitely a more unique way to end the series... there is definitely a strong possibility that it’s not going to be that way. While yes, it is definitely much darker and grittier then most Shounens ever written (not to mention it is better written than a lot of Shounens out there)... Attack on Titan IS still a Shounen in the end.

What's wrong with happy ending? It's gooood!! Anyway I have my theory too, all marleyan that is left will curse the remaining eldians. They going to judge them calling them just a monster as they always were after seeing the rumbling. Eldian people can't say anything (but maybe a bit of protest) and ready to accept whatever the punishment the marleyan will give to them. But then Gabi step inside and became the one who will persuade marleyan to stop their hatred. Since Gabi is quite famous for marleyan people, they will listen to her. And after all of what gabi's being through. She will explain lot of things regarding of why their hatred is mislead themselves. And they should stop creating conflict with eldian. And after that they buried Eren or make something like that, for him. Everyone will still see what Eren did is bad. But they know the reason why Eren become like that. They'll create new civilization without hatred. But doesn't mean the Titan will disappear completely. They know the world going to be cruel again. And the decendant of Eren (from hystorias baby) will make sure to give them the "solution" once more. And that solution will be bed time story to scare children for many generations in the future. Eren will be remembered as a devil. But the result of that would be better and peaceful living for many future generations who would fear him. Fighting fear would be their motto. And someday yes, the cycle will be repeated. And the rumbling will happen again. But that would be long time in the future where all the main character would already be dead to see it. That's it the end.
