We are just reborn in the names given to us - Athelstan, Ragnar, Bjorn the Ironside, Ivar the Boneless,. Ubbe, etc. There is no Valhalla. There is no heaven. Just an endless life of senseless violence, war, murder, and death which gets reborn throughout time. Can we really escape our fate? Just like what Ragnar did - from being an ordinary farmer to become a legend? Or was that his fate all along?

I honestly feel like they almost pulled a GOT on the ending. Not as catastrophically bad, because there was still a lot of reasonably good stuff, but still rushed. So many storylines (and characters) were cut off too easily, too randomly or too abruptly with some rather postulated or only partially established motivations behind them. Lots of wasted potential.

Ivar died feeling fear. He'll not get in Valhalla.

All of these viking warriors have a soft spot in the last season. It was quite slow and very drama filled with drawn out scenes. It was a little all over the place. Glad it was the last season, the story has run its course. With only two of Ragnars sons alive, one turning christian and the other in a foreign land what more can be told. Another land to conquer and to battle a new enemy.

I declare myself a fan of the series, however, the end was completely disappointing !!!!! Without a reason, Aivar died and lost !!!!
