The first ever Mars helicopter is INGENIOUS

When NASA launches its next Mars rover this summer, it will have a very special cargo on board: A helicopter. NASA's Ingenuity aims to be the first robot to take flight on another planet. Here's why it's such a big deal.

Why is NOT being shielded from the sun's radiation a "bad" thing on a planet that doesn't get enough sunlight to HEAT the planet? Seriously, that confuses me. You'll have to parse out the different kinds of radiation (EM i.e. photons at various energy levels, alpha particles, beta particles) and why some is "good" at heating a planet for lifeforms and harmless to equipment but other is "bad" for humans & machines.

How in the name of god could you call that just a rock?? the statue head called the goblin sol 184 with an eye and teeth displayed and it just fact based goes on. as a police officer i base everything on fact and i believe the facts are too overwhelming to deny anymore. do your homework and check out the real anomalies on nasa's site, they are there. nasa is slowly inching to disclosure because when people set foot on mars it is game over and they know what will be discovered.

Big Deal! I’ve asked the question (about drones to Mars) long ago... ever since the arthropod “Spirit” landed... we humans had been fiddling with drones the size of mosquitos and beetles to spy on each other... . surely such light weight solar powered apparatuses would be a cinch for the one percent or less earth atmosphere environment...

Early life on Mars will be discovered and the DNA will be identical to that on Earth. Conclusion: We are Martians. An asteroid impact, or, a comet impact on Mars, blew Martian DNA into space in a kind of grand cosmic ejaculation. This ejected Martian DNA, found its way to fertile Earth 600,000 million years ago and like interplanetary sperm, fertilized Earth. All life on Earth was parented by life on Mars. This is not unusual. It has happened and will continue to happen across the Universe. Eventually one self-aware species arrises to control a particular planet and either makes it off planet, to the stars, or, destroys itself. The vast majority destroy themselves. They cannot master their greed and inclinations to dominate. Egoism almost always defeats Altruism. Kind Regards and Best Wishes, The Grand Exalted Ruler of The Universe

I think there should have been a better design of this helicopter drone by having a flexible plastic dome errecting around it from a rod extending at the top and bottom and the inner module in an inner full rotational section, allowing to take off again if a wind gust or so tilts it to the side....! Or at least a Mavic Air (tm) model version able to take off upside down, by its shape and simple shifting a central cam gimble to the top from the center... Rotors fixed in a center axsis ring where the air is sucked in and out by vents in the speric plastic skin around it. Perhaps using even a coanda effect. So if it crashes, they just have to press wait till it stands still after bouncing down a canyon or so. The in all directions moving inner box, would allign it self by a heavier balance on its bottom ( batteries of mini fusion reactor ). By that mini cold fusion reactor could fly days around or how the connection goes...
