They should bring back the traditional feeling to it, a skinny guy with high cheekbones, eccentric, strange, talks fast, and actually knows how to feckin act, and ginger, the show is running out of ideas, they should make the next doctor ginger and have him the last one, they cant drag it out with the horrible writing they’ve got

I've never watched doctor who, but to me this problem it seems like the star wars sequels a lot.

This is the first time since new who came on the air that I’ve just never watched it. Not a single episode of the last two seasons. I’m excited to see the back of Jodie but with the chibster still at the writing helm, I dread to think of how he might try to top his already prolific failings

Used to be that acting or script writing was a job done by an actor/writer whose purpose was to entertain. Nowadays the job title is preacher or would-be politician or virtue signaller. Still, the unwashed majority of us live in the real world and we despise their dishonesty. We see them for the hypocrites they are.

I've tried to watch it a couple of times can't get past the lecturing hectoring wokeness of it that usually appears 10 minutes in. What I want to watch is some lump of a scary alien (not a man in a latexmask) kill a few or millions of people only to be defeated by a maverick timelord with a few witty one liners and hopefully assistance from non-too annoying sidekicks. They have a whole universe and the whole of time, quite literally an infinite amount of possibilities of thought provoking material that doesn't need to concern itself about what colour your skin is, what's between your legs or what gets you through the night!!

Jodie Whittaker is a good actor, I believe she has just been delt a bad head script writer. Well we will see in the next season if I was right, in my opinion we wont see any improvement.

Really wanted to like the fem Doctor era. It never bothered me when they gender swapped the role and I was open minded about Jodie Whittaker. But the show is just boring. The assistants were the killer for me. Took all the focus away from the Doctor. And yes, the Doctor character herself is underbaked. There's not much fun going on and a lot of telling people they're wrong to find it boring. It's very similar to the situation with Ghostbusters, Star Wars and Captain Marvel, in that they don't seem to understand what made things tick. Instead of making The Doctor like Rey or Carol Danvers they should have maybe been looking at great female characters like Ellen Ripley or Sarah Conner. There needed to be humour and levity and pathos and a dose of madness. That makes the social commentary wash down a lot better. Without it it's just miserable.

They were right everyone, 13 is an unlucky number.

In hindsight, it would have been better if they had casted a person of color. Casting a white woman to replace a white man isn't diversity - it's what a shareholder's idea of being woke is.

I used to be a hardcore fan of Doctor Who and loved rewatching the episodes. I still haven't watched even a clip of the Whitaker seasons. Patiently waiting for the next doctor.

i could freaking recognize each episode from every clip you showed from all doctors, even remember dialog lines, yet i could not even remember the names of companions and the last episode of Jodi i saw the other day. Save Doctor who!

At lot of people seem to hate on the Rosa Parks episode, almost out of principle that they dared to do a 'woke' story. I mean yeah, there are cheesy, preachy woke stories and then there's the (reasonably true) story of Rosa fucking Parks. Personally I loved it, one of my favourite episodes of new-Who. But aside from that *one*, I can barely bring myself to bother watch it, these days. :p

To prove the claim that Whittaker is just an untalented diversity hire, simply compare the Tomatometer to the Actual viewership. If the TM is high and the viewership is low, then that's your proof. If it's the reverse, you know you have a good show.

In my personal opinion David tenant and Matt smith are 2 of the best doctors ever (I like a lot of them apart from 13 )

Enjoyed her work in Broadchurch (not a major role but there you go). When it came to the Doctor, I managed to watch 5 minutes (they were still on the train) and that was enough for me. Haven't watched it since it was so bad.

I disagree that Smith was good.

This is all coming from the same network that essentially sacked the original presenters of its most popular show(Top Gear - I know they only sacked Clarkson, but Hammond and May said "if he goes we go").

When I heard their plans for the 13th doctor my immediate thought was, "well that's that ruined". But I didnt want it to be. So i had a good talk with myself about prejudice and such like and demanded that i give it a fair chance. But it was such badly written drivel I doubt I lasted four minutes. I just wanted to be entertained. BBC can't do that anymore and never will be able to because they have no intention of ever doing so.

I'm so sick of creators who can't take even the most basic criticism without throwing a tantrum, yelling "no, you", and doubling down on the generally bad ideas they were criticized for. It's unprofessional and just digs the hole deeper.

My biggest gripe with her is that she's literally just a horrific amalgamation of Tennant and smith, like every other doctor has had a distinctive personality but with her she's just bland as fuck

There is an edit somewhere of an interveiw with chibnal day i ng that jodi came up with the plrtrayal knowledge that of the character all on her own, and jodi in a separate interview saying that she just plays the character as it's written, which just goes to show that chibnal cares so little for the show he's running he didn't get the main actors to spend some time with the writers establishing a character.

My Dr.Who experience ranges from Eccleston to Smith. binged all of those seasons,then stopped.(cuz the new one wasn't out yet) after watching this,I'm glad about it and will keep it that way :D

Out of all of her episodes the one episode I had actually hoped for out of all the doctor whos is the Rosa Parks episode. That moment in history where the doctor can't just stand up against anyone they have to let time go through. If they had done that episode then gone back to the original format then it would have been nice.

Like other female fans of the show, I was iffy when they announced 13 would be the first female Doctor. One part of me was excited to finally have a woman play the part, but a bigger part of me said "Uh oh." And it was because when Whittaker was selected it was during a time of a lot of 'in your face' SJW stuff. So it didn't seem genuine to me, and once I saw all the stuff that was coming out of her seasons, my suspicion was confirmed. If the show survives for a 14th doctor, I do hope they go with a fan favorite pick like Michael Sheen, who is a character actor and who I think could give a strong performance, or even Richard Ayoade, who I think can bring back the love and humanity to the character while not pissing off the SJW crowd.

Russel T Davies was gay and had charecters that everyone loved like Jack, and nobody hated him... becuase his sexuality wasnt part of some woke propoganda message, he was just gay. nowadays anything has to be done for some political scoring, instead of just being a good character

I used to love Doctor Who. I would make a huge effort every single week to watch the episodes, I had so many toys and other collectables, my room was covered in posters from magazines I had crudely cut out and I would love to know where my 1,000+ Battle in time cards went. I grew up with 9 and 10 as my Doctors. I didn't think much of Matt Smith for the first series but as it went on he grew on me, he seemed more of a clown than the doctor. Capaldi seemed like a modern day Hartnell in my opinion which seemed to like they were doing what everyone else was doing at that point and attempting to redo original things to see if that worked because coming up with new ideas wasn't working it seemed. I felt Moffat was great when he was writing for Russell T Davies however it was almost like when he got handed the show fully it was like he ran out of ideas before he'd begun. 13 sadly was the last straw for me, I have watched maybe one or two episodes and I simply cannot find an interest at all. Doctor Who in my opinion is more about being accepted by various cultures and groups that it has taken away from what it was, it was about an alien timelord called the doctor who stopped evil monsters, taught us something once in a while and was entertaining. These days it is so focused on including and being kind to many different minorities it has completely lost all of that. I dislike the way 13 tries to fit in with everything "Come on Fam", what on earth is this?! The writing has certainly gone downhill even more than previous series. I think it is wonderful that they are including more minorities for the doctor role, companies, overall story lines etc however that shouldn't be the only focus in my opinion. They seem to be doing things just for the sake of it and not it is doing more harm than good. A female doctor was a suprise at first since the roll has been played by a male from day one and I do think Jodie has more pressure than any other Doctor stepping into the role and change in general in something not many people like anyway however this version of doctor who seems to have changed so much in the name of diversity that the name and the blue box are the only things left that have any hint of what the show used to be.

While I never supported the idea of a female Doctor Who (that would have been another show), it could only have succeeded with a great actress of talent, personality and charisma - A Diana Rigg type or possibly a Jodi Comer. Someone like that with passion and....a sense of humor. Whitaker herself is completely inadequate to the role, which is now being used just as a vehicle for SJW RightThink.

Dr who should have ended YEARS ago. Capaldi is a good actor in his own right but the show was still shite. Even at the end of Matt Smiths time the show was demonstrably more shit than it used to be. As a fan old enough to remember the first episode in the 60s not long after the JFK assassination , I'm happy to say I never watched one episode of Jodies. For me Dr Who ended after Tom Baker , I watched a bit of Peter Davison and from then on left it alone. When it was resurrected again with Chris Eccleston it was truly different and modern, not entirely my cup of tea but could be tolerated ,after that we started to see woke creep which makes it just completely unwatchable. I am fine with my old ones on DVD , I don't care if I am a dinosaur but at least I am a happy one !

I wouldn't blame the actress. She is okay as the Doctor. Nowhere as good as the shift from the Master to the Mistress. (that was well done ). Whittaker could have been good, if the show itself was actually well written. The stories were awful. No actor or actress could help this awful garbage.
