I find that you typically come across these kinds of ads way more often on android than on iPhone, they’re baked into so many apps. The only time I see these kinds of ads on iPhone is on shady apps and websites

Mostly I get Fake guru ads. I just watch 30 secs and then I click and run.

Another reason companies have to put these kind of ads is because there are millions of mobile games in the market and they all compete with each other. Everyone want their game to be heard and for people to download it and a false ad makes it easy. I havn't played a mobile game for years now so I very rarely see these ads, but I remember encountering one that goes like this: it's the kind of ad that plays in bad time and you are forced to watch 30 seconds of it. This type of ad is the one that makes the companey the highest amount of money out of all the types of ads they have. What the company whose game I'm playing now did with these badly timed ads is taking advantage of the fact people want to just exit the ad and continue playing. They showed both the replay button and the exit button to continue playing while the ad was playing but the buttons were grayed out to show we can't use it yet. We just want the ad to move on so we're ready with our finger to press the exit button because we know where this button is. The catch is, when the ad ends they replace the ad with a "poster ad" of the same advertized game to "give us the time to decide if we want to download it or not, getting them more money as these are two ads in a row. What they also did is switch the positions of the replay button and the exit button, and because we were ready to press "exit" and we know it was there, we just clicked the "replay ad" button and we end up watching the same ad again. Congrats, you just watched three ads in a row.

Saw the first :48 seconds and I knew what this was about. The Legitimacy of the abundant false advertising every mobile game is still lost on me but it feels like it should be illegal. I downloaded a game that in its advertising it showed a sort of open world aspect of fighting giant enemy bugs (cough cough Planet Ant) and it turned out to be another mobilizing troop waiting game. It really irritates the absolute hell out of me they can do this.

I almost feel like these mobile game ads are roughly as honest as tech support scammers. But the worst part about them is, sometimes I would love to see actual advertisements for something I might be interested in. But instead I'm bombarded with what barely amounts to more than random shapes and colours, effectively filling web pages etc. with unnecessary bloat. If the lawmakers are not going to do anything about them, then I think legitimate advertisers should. Not only are these things wasting valuable ad space, but they are also driving more people to ad blockers.

I've seen all of the adds shown in the video and have clicked in many when they poped up in games (I know, I like those easy puzzle games). I found it weird that they included How To Loot. The advertisement is slightly exaggeratef but the gameplay itself is actually those "remove the keys" tipe. The rest were actually fake (with the exceptions that MatPat himself made)
